Yin yoga

Why Yin Yoga

Yin is very different from the yoga most people are familiar with. It is slow, cool and quiet. It affects the tendons, ligaments and fascia rather than the muscles, enabling you to connect with your connective tissues in a profound way. The parts of your body that hold you together, but also bear the brunt of your stresses, injuries and traumas. When your body goes deep into extended holds in beneficial shapes you elicit the body’s natural healing response, improving the structure of your whole being.

What is yin like?

The long holds in a comfortable space allow your body time to settle, time to open up. By finding the doable edge of your tolerance within a shape you give your body a bit of good stress making it stronger. You’ll also strengthen your mind by learning how to be with challenging sensations and thoughts, knowing that there will be relief in just a moment.

How will I feel after a yin session?

After this deep opening you are going to be a bit different. You’ll move more fluidly. You’ll feel stronger, lighter and settled in your being. This shift will enable you to remain open and present within the discomforts of your everyday life for increased resilience and clarity; physically, mentally and emotionally. Giving you the power to live your life fully, with no holds barred.
